Welcome to the first group of Global Health Law Ambassadors. Students are enjoying the opportunity to extern or intern at international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Millennium Development Campaign office and for the US government at the Department of Commerce International Trade Administration. Opportunities also include research on topics of importance to national health systems in collaboration with me and a colleague at the WHO. Each student has a defined research project established by the sponsor in consultation with me. Each has determined the credit status of these experiences – ranging from a full externship to an internship/directed research to no credit but great experience as a research assistant. The full requirements of each will be posted shortly in a new web page within the Health Law Institute and more information will be available in the fall during open house for summer institutes. So you have an idea of what the requirements are I will name a few now. First and foremost for a summer experience in Geneva you must be enrolled or have completed the summer institute in Lausanne and have passed 6011X beforehand. A grade point average of at least 2.7 is required.
Watch here for blogging by students about their experiences! Hope to see you in the fall at the open house. No date has been set yet.
