Welcome to Career Connections!

The Career Development Office (CDO) has important career-related information to share with you so we created a weekly newsletter to communicate with you over the summer.  This is the first newsletter of the season.  We recommend that you make it a habit to read each one so that you keep abreast of fall on-campus interviewing deadlines and general job search strategies.  Welcome to your career!

Upload Resumes to Symplicity
In preparation for on-campus interviewing, CDO needs anyone interested in the program to upload a resume to Symplicity by April 30, 2011.  To access Symplicity, you will need to enter your campus cruiser email address as your username and your password.  If you need a password, simply click “Forgot Password” at the login screen and the system will email you a new password.  To upload your resume click the “documents” tab, then click the “+Add New” button.  At the next screen, label your document, select your file using the browse button and click “Submit” to upload your resume.

Fall OCI
The Fall On-Campus Interviewing program marks the beginning of the fall recruiting process.  Employers across the country use this recruiting opportunity to interview, recruit and hire Widener Law students into their summer programs and/or for permanent post-graduation jobs.  CDO will share additional information over the summer about Fall OCI but below are some important deadlines to remember:

Non-OCI Employers
If you are looking for employment in cities not widely represented in   Widener’s formal recruiting program, typically outside of the east coast, you will have the opportunity this summer to make contact with the employers of greatest interest to you.  The summer is an excellent time to research Non-OCI employers, learn as much as you can about the legal market in your desired city, network with potential employers and submit applications to those employers before returning to campus in the August.  Look for CDO’s detailed strategy in the next Career Connections post.
Webcast Wednesdays
Beginning May 18, 2011, CDO will share 15-minute webcasts on Wednesdays to prepare you for successful fall recruiting.  The schedule is as follows:

  • May 25, 2011:  Making Outreach to Non-OCI Employers
